The family size in Britian is trending to be 2.4 person on average. That is much smaller than in the past. In the past the typical type of family is extented family. People used to have big familes. But children lived in bigger families has reduced since 1972. At that time 44% children lived in the families where had three or more dependent children. However in 2003 there was only 31% did. The number of children living in families where they are the only dependent child increased in this period from 18% to 25%.
This changes of family size will make more aging population. The aging people have to work because there are not enough people taking place of them. Some of them have to work a few more years than before. And the aging people can't take better care of the society because of lacking of money.

Hi Andy
Thanks for discovering the answers to my questions. Well done for taking the time to write the answers in your own words. Of course, this will only help to improve your English writing skills!
Do you think EVENTUALLY the trends will change? That is, do you think in the future people will start having bigger families to adjust for the ageing population?
