Education in Britain - Homeschooling

Although non-government funded schools didn't have their number risen in the pupils in the past five years, the secondry schools had more students than ever before. It seems that more and more parents sent their children to the non-govermen funded schools that is private schools.

As a type of education in UK, homeschooling has its own advantages and disadvantages. The children who are taking homeschooling don't have to follow the classmates' step. It saves time while the children take homeschooling. In a class, there always have the students who are very good at study, while some are not so good at it. But the teachers should have to go his general step. That means he goes the level as middle ones. As a result of that, the ones who are not so good at study can't catch up with the teachers' step. But the quite smart ones feel that is too easy. It may cost them 6 year to learn the knowledge which they may only spent 4 years in homeschooling. Homeschooling makes the learning effiency and effectively. And the children get more freedom than in the school. But on contrary, homeschooling may reduce the time that the child get together with other children. It may make the children lack the ability of commucating with others in the future. And it is quite difficult for the parents to control the time of their children's study. And they won't be as professional as the teachers in schools.

Hi Andy

Thank you for your comments on Education in Britain.

I'm not sure, but I think the private schools control their numbers. They may have a maximum number of students they can take each year. If you look on some of the private schools' websites, they probably talk about a 'waiting list'!

Regarding homeschooling it is true, as you say, that in a traditional classroom the teacher has to PACE the lessons in the middle. The disadvantage to that is that the slower/quicker students will find this to be a problem.

On the other hand, one disadvantage of homeschooling is that children don't get to SOCIALIZE with other children. In order to solve this problem, many parents make sure the children are involved in extra-curricular activities so they can benefit from being with other children.

Well done.
