Symmetrical Families
Last week we talked about the family. There are some differences between Chinese families. In the past decades men are the leading in the familyes. They were the main earners in the families, and women looked after the house and the children. There were many children in a family in past. It was nearly the same as UK. But now things get changed. Women are not only staying at home to look after the house and the child, they also go for work. The law only allow each couple to have one child because there are too many people. But in the countryside people would like to have more than one children, and at least one of them is boy. And they got fined. Although women have their own jobs, men are the leadings in the families. They make the improtant desions.

Hello Andy
It is interesting to read about different family tradtions. Do you think the role of women in the family in China is changing? Do you think, like Britain, families in China will become more symmetical? Do men help with things like the cooking, washing, cleaning?
Is the fine very big for people who have more than one child? How much is it?
Do you agree with this law?
Annie
